Re: Licorice: mucus-forming, to be avoided?

Licorice root does enhance mucus production and fluidity in the digestive tract...which is fine, because normal mucus is a healthy secretion of the intestinal lining and necessary for lubrication. This mucus should be clear and thin...not much thicker than water. Mucoid plaque is not the same as mucus...thick and toxic...which the Colon Cleanses work to remove. The dietary suggestions help to prevent the production of mucoid plaque and anything that would thicken the mucus secretions ie. dairy.
