Ahmadinejad’s Lust for Blood – by Jamie Glazov

Glenn Beck did a superb job on his program last night discussing the horrifying belief system that shapes Ahmadinejad’s lust for wiping Israel off the face of the earth.

Beck refers to the Iranian despot as “the Twelver” because Ahmadinejad believes that he must purify the earth with as much human blood (and preferably the Jewish variety) as possible in order to hasten the return of the 12th Imam, the Mahdi, who is the much-anticipated Islamic messiah. This is precisely what Ahmadinejad was talking about in his UN speech and it is exactly why his regime is in the process of building the nuclear bomb (if it hasn’t already built it).

Not surprisingly, we haven’t heard one peep of criticism, alarm or ridicule from the liberal Left about all of this. It’s understandable, of course: they are too busy keeping an eye on the real threats to peace in the world, such as Glenn Beck and, well, you know, some right-wing Christian evangelist somewhere who is trying get someone to believe in Jesus Christ. That’s far more dangerous than what the Twelver is up to, right?

In any case, Beck’s shedding of light on the Twelver is extremely important because doing so crystallizes — and reminds us of — what the militant Islamic ideology is all about. The yearning to disinfect the world with human blood is at the foundation of the Islamist impulse. If we have any chance of defending our civilization successfully, we simply have to digest this reality.

The French-born scholar Laurent Murawiec has written one of the most profound works on this phenomenon: The Mind of Jihad. This fascinating and frightening book summarizes the Islamist ideology’s overriding theme: “I kill, therefore I am.” In his study of the Islamist terrorist’s mindset, Murawiec explains:

“. . . the means has become the end. The blood of the enemy renews the identity of the lynch mob. . . . Death is not an instrumentality—like the death of the enemy on the battlefield—it has become an end in itself . . .”

Murawiec points out that the suicide-killing manual left behind by Mohammed Atta, the leader of the 9/11 attacks, included a provision commanding that before going on his mission, the Islamic warrior must make sure his knife is sharp: “you . . . must not discomfort your animal during the slaughter.”

The animal being referred to is the non-Muslim whom the Muslim is instructed to kill. As Murawiec observes, we see here the element of human sacrifice for the sake of pleasing God.

A stunning example of the importance of spilling human blood in this kind of Islamist ritual sacrifice was the assassination in 1971 of Jordan’s prime minister, Wasfi al-Tell, by PLO terrorists. As al-Tell lay dying on the marble floor of the Sheraton Hotel in Cairo, one of the terrorists knelt down and began lapping up his blood.

In his work, Murawiec cites a long sequence of such incidents of blood-worship in what Saudi lawyer Sheikh Mohsin al-Awaji has referred to as the Islamic jihad’s “industry of death.”

Ahmadinejad is a death-cult walking. Does the West and the Obama administration have the courage to stare this threat in its face? If it does, it must understand the threat before it defeats it.

Editor’s note: Read about the true nature of the Islamist death-cult and the Left’s alliance with it in Jamie Glazov’s new book, United in Hate: The Left’s Romance with Tyranny and Terror.
