Re: Uterine Tumors

Hi MamaCatPatch, there are doctors that call uterine fibroids, 'fibroid tumors', these are not cancerous, but benign growths of fibroid tissue in the uterus. They can cause a lot of pain and heavy bleeding (this is what I had). They can sometime grow very large, and can cause infertility in many women.

I wonder if some doctors deliberatly use the word 'tumor', to try and frighten women into having surgery. This is a cynical view, but when dealing with doctors, I've become a very cynical person.

They really could be either one. Cysts are fluid filled sacs and tumors are solid. Both can occur in the uterus, but a biopsy would be the best way to determine which one it really is. Of biopsies have their own problems so I still think focusing on getting the hormones down should be the primary focus to help shrink whatever it is.
