Yep I totally agree with you; and some religions are worse than others.
Most people don't question, people like to belong to "safe" groups where they feel they can be "in", accepted and protected, and people generally, are really really scared.
People are also generally grandeiose, which means, that they like to think they are better than everyone else; hence they love religion, because religion always gives people an excuse and permission to think they are superior to the person who does not believe in their religion; and even a reason to kill them: think Islam.
Sadly, religion is outdated and is currently practiced in ways that are exclusionary (Christianity), sometimes inhumane (Islam), dangerous (Islam), sexist (Islam & Judaism) and generally very limited..... and really, when you come to think about it one of the few good things about religion imho is Christian art; the stainglass windows and statues. That's about it, LOL sad, init.
Islam is truly dangerous, Judaism and Christianity are outdated and limiting of human growth, Hindi supports inequality (caste system), and Budhism is politically naiive.
Spirituality does not need a framework such as a "religion".
