Well, the one-half of your body weight formula actually is, to be totally accurate:
One half as you say, PLUS another cup for a cup of coffee, or a soft drink, PLUS more if you are exposed to hot weather, PLUS more if you are under a lot of stress (such as being ill) and on and on. So the number you cite is not so absolute as you think it is.
With all due respect, this one ounce per pound was personally recommended to me. I DID NOT say it was the generally accepted amount by "countless" Naturopaths, sports coaches, or any other person. It works for me, and it has proven to not be dangerous. Each body, lifestyle, and stress level is different, so who knows about you.
Perhaps I could have gone into more detail, but due to the time investment I did cut it a bit short. The point was; are you sure you are drinking enough water? And the more important piece of information you seem to have totally ignored was David's recommendation of the two immediate glasses.
