Re: And for something a little different...
1000% in with that. I am all over an Outward Bound approach which is the PC term today. A PC way of saying, take out back woodshed, add some whoop a$$ 'tude correction, come back when cojones have grown back.
When I was 14 and all that and more, meaning I had it all figured out, my pop took me on a 50 mile 'hike'. Wasn't forced. Wasn't coerced. It just happened to be 50 miles, over the highest consecutive mile and pass in N America. I was coming into athletics and knew I was better than anyone.
The only instructions after we were dropped off by a tourist train at the trailhead was "you mother is at the other end and is expecting is in 2 1/2 days. Questions?"
My old man proceeded to walk me into the ground. No yelling. No physical abuse. It was A to B. Sun down sleep. Sun up walk.
The lessons resonate to this day. And you know what, screw the Outward Bound phrase. I like A to B tasks. Plus, nothing a good woodshed won't solve.
