Regardless, the output is incredibly weak.

ParaZapper products will output 9.5 to 9.6 volts with a fresh heavy duty battery with a positive offset. Using a fresh alkaline battery will give a 9.9 to 10.1 volt output. A floating ground would show a sharp rise to a peak followed by a sinusoidal drop off.
