Thank you for your emails and photographs. As discussed, from your pictures it looks as though you are suffering with severe folliculitis decalvans. From the patient history you have seen on our website I would expect you to respond in the same manner.
At anytime you wish to discuss your treatments or my recommendations please feel free to call me on 020 7976 6868 between the hours of 10am and 6pm Monday to Friday UK time, or just email me direct on gary@thewestminsterpractice.com.
Folliculitis decalvans is a slowly spreading inflammation of the hair follicle, which leads to progressive scarring. It is distinguished by follicular plugging and multiple rounded or oval patches can be found on the scalp, each surrounded by crops of follicular pustules. There may be no other changes, but successive crops of pustules, each followed by the destruction of the affected follicles, produce the slow extension of the alopecia. The exact cause of this condition is still uncertain, but is most likely an abnormal ‘host response’ to various common bacteria.
To treat your scalp, we would recommend an intensive 12-month treatment course of:
SEB DERM TREATMENT
Description: Spirit-based lotion containing powerful keratolytic and anti-pruritic agents for the removal of excess sebum and scaling, in cases of seborrhoeic eczema, psoriasis and other adverse scaling conditions of the hair and scalp.
Contents: Aqua, Isopropyl Alcohol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Juniperus Oxycedrus, Salicylic Acid, Hamamelis Virginiana, Glycerin, Menthol, Melaleuca Alternifolia, Isopropyl Myristate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Panthenol, Linoleic Acid, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Linolenic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben, PABA, CI 17200, CI 18140, CI 42090.
Mode of Action: The active ingredients of the Seb Derm Treatment contain powerful anti-keratolytic agents for the removal of sebum, excess dead skin cells and accumulated scale on the scalp. Anti-pruritic agents are incorporated to reduce sensitisation and control irritation of the scalp, supported by antiseptic properties for the prevention of secondary infection of the affected scalp areas. Treatment should only be used when scaling or pruritis are present.
Directions for Use:
1) Apply 1 ampoule to the top area of your scalp every other day. The hair should be dry or at least towel-dried to ensure the lotion is not diluted.
2) Massage the scalp gently until the lotion is absorbed and then leave on until your hair is next washed. Wash your hands afterwards.
Pre-paid courses are discounted heavily with the pharmacy and we are able to offer you the 12-month course for £1,880.00, the 6-month course for £1,410.00 or the 3-month course for £940.00. Please telephone the centre or email your credit card details.
