Somalia

Somalia has been compelled to
accept Sharia Law and become
an Islamic State. The vote which
was usually done secretly was not
and was done by a show of hands.
This means that television and
radio will now be banned. Women
will have to be covered and will
be banned from going to school.
I am sure it means a lot of other
things too but I cannot help but
feel that this is repressive and
my mind rails against the reality
of denying women the opportunity
to learn about the world they live
in. Sharia Law has no separation
of church and state and so there
is no hope or recourse. It seems
like religious martial law to me.

I also do not condone the efforts
by Muslims to enact Sharia Law in
the United States. I feel this
country should be a haven from
that level of repression.

Likewise, Muslims coming here
should expect that their worldview
may be shaken because the way we
live is not the way they have been
conditioned to live. We are free
to learn about the world we live
in~~
