Re: Fasting
Hey, well I'm flattered! It's really nice to know that my messages are helping! Don't worry about not being a native speaker, English isn't my first language either.
Haha, but you are stubborn aren't you? Well, I think you can guess my advice. If you're visiting your dad on thursday, it's best to stop fasting now, since it only has been for one day.
If you continue to be a naughty gal and continue fasting, you're in for a suprise. The first solid meal you will eat Thursday will then leave you miserable and with stomach cramps. Not to mention you will have a hard time controlling your food intake. Not a good idea. your metabolism will suffer for it.
Since you will be eating three meals at your dad's, it's best to work up to that. Do you have access to fruit that you like? (in some countries they're hard to get by around this time)
To break your fast now, I'm giving you a small shopping list:
- buy some Orange Juice.
- 4 smoothies (2 smoothies and 2 servings of fruit that you like. No bananas, they will make you constipated.) Take a good look at the ingredients: avoid those with added sugar. And pick the one with the most fruit. Best is all-fruit or a combo of fruit and veg.
- package of Oatmeal (if your supermarket doesn't sell oatmeal, look for a breakfast meal with fibre.)
- optional: green tea
Okay, now during the day, either drink (green) tea (without sugar) water or Orange Juice (orange juice is particulary nice to break your fast with.) 3 smoothies (or a combo of smoothies and servings of fruits) are your 3 meals for the day. Don't sip/eat too fast. Take your time so your digestive system can wake up from the little break it had.
Wednesday you can add some fiber to the mix.
- Eat 1 serving of water cooked Oatmeal/alternative you found for breakfast. If you really hate eating it that way, you may lose low fat milk instead of water. Sweeten it with a bit of
Sugar (as long as it's not too much it's okay.)
- lunch is your 4th smoothie.
- dinner: to be prepared for tommorow, eat a meal like you normally would. This is to prepare you for thursday. One serving. Try to eat more of the veggies and less of the meat , so you're digestive system has time to adjust. Keep it at one serving.
- drinking: water, tea, Orange Juice or black coffee
Thursday:
- if thursday is the day you're leaving home, have a normal breakfast like you normally would. If you're okay with eating oatmeal again, take that for breakfast.
- Prepare lunch at home so you won't have to buy those unhealthy foods at the airport/in the plane. You can choose anything from from a whole grain sandwich to fruit if you like that.
-If you want to take snacks with you, have some nuts like walnuts or almonds. I'd advise you to easy on the snacking though.
-Take some water with you in the plane so you won't be sipping diet soda.
I think what I just outlined is the best way to carefully break this fast in such a short time while preventing weight gain and a bloated feeling. Enjoy yourself at your dad's. Try to remember what I said about controlling your food intake to 3 solid meals a day.
But most of all, enjoy yourself. You can worry about your weight when you get back.
One sidenote about the fast. If you're fasting, either do juice fasting or waterfasting. Low calorie drinks will make your body go in starvation mode and you will lose muscle because of that. Don't do it.
