Re: Nutritarian links

I found a few things exceptionally interesting in the lecture.

I loved the nature of this study, and its very objective approach. It looked at the disease rates in China, and found them to be geographical instead of a ratio.

I found it interesting how the rats liver cancer turned on and off while feeding on a certain ratio of meat. Anything above 10% turned on the cancer.

I loved the other studies mentioned where people with heart problems completely reversed them by eating a whole foods, plant based diet.

I love how Dr. Campbell took an objective view, suggesting that there is a link between the consumption of animal protein and disease in populations overall. He did throw in a few of his suspicions, however he makes it clear what they were. I also liked how he threw in the alkaline acid theory.

I think the China study definitely points to the fact that a vegan diet prevents disease. But one thing over looked by the evidence of the china study are the blue zones. Blue Zones are areas where older people exist. Some zones eat a fair bit of meat, but its almost always wild. Carribou, whale, ocean fish, wild birds...

And much like Grz mentioned, animal husbandry is not the same as it once was. After a cow has been in a feed lot for 5 months, eating only corn, the steroids and anti-biotics no longer work to prevent disease in the animals. The animals are already sick before slaughter. Wild game is no where near the same in constitution as corn fed cattle in feed lots. Watch the movie "king corn" and listen to the feed lot manager talk about the process.

So if animal protein turns the body acidic (based on the study), then I would assume that the meat from animals whom do not have an immunity past the Antibiotics is far more potent.

BTW is anyone aware of any blue zones that are entirely vegan?
