understanding the nebulizer - avoiding the dangers
do you know why nebulizers are given to people by prescription only? because they give a person direct access to the bloodstream. when you see all of these cute little kids with their inhalers, just picture a hypodermic needle in their hand instead and them injecting themselves instead of breathing in a mist. it is the same thing.
when people smoke crack or opium, etc, they are mainlining. that stuff goes directly into the bloodstream, just like their needle using counterparts.
knowing all of this made nebulizing KI today that much more exciting. i got my neb on ebay. it has been a good tool to learn to use. a neb can save a life. the point kind of surfaced today that it could also kill.
in true self-experimenter fashion, i started with distilled water and filled the cup to the 6ml mark, the most it is calibrated to hold. the water "tasted" quite mild and i felt nothing from inhaling it.
next i put one drop in. 25mg of KI in 6ml of solution. i could definitely taste it. in fact, the nebulizer cup where the vapor is formed made a slightly different sound as well. this felt about the same as the water. i knew i had some room to play.
i put four drops in 6ml. this time i could feel a little action in my sinuses and lungs from a few inhales.
then i put 20 drops, half a gram, in 6ml. this was markedly a different animal. it had a fairly strong odor, one that was strange to me. i took another bigger whiff, still not a full inhale, and then it occured to me. i was mainlining potassium. not a good thing, possibly. potassium chloride, another salt of potassium, is used for lethal injection.
well, i felt a little lightheaded after that and didnt go any further. all i need to do is research the lethal doses of injecting these substances and i will know better what i am dealing with.
i was thinking that lugols might be a better choice for this. it is lugols that is used to rebuild tissue and replace scars. maybe i will try that tomorrow after doing some more reading.
btw, been babying a chest and sinus cold for over a week. i am the only person that i know who looks forward to getting sick. finally, i have someone to experiment on!
anyway, the nebulizing cleared my lungs right up. i have been doing a gram a day as usual. after sleeping all night though, i wake up with green stuff coming out of my sinuses and lungs.
so nebulizing iodine is very effective in very small amounts. good to know. another good thing to know is that, aside from the flow of mucus and coughing, i have felt great the whole time with this cold or whatever they call it. i call it eating crap all winter so thats what you get. i have avoided strenuous activity and gotten plenty of rest. staying hydrated has been key.
