Re: My Mirena is lost inside me, not in my uterus

I had my IUD in for a year and a half, and although I had the side effects... moodiness, hairloss, lack of sex drive, I was willing to deal with that because it was one my few options because I can't be on estrogen. But then about a month ago I realized I couldn't find my strings (which I had had cut short so my husband could stand the thing!) and then I started having sharp pelvic pains on the right side. I thought I had an ectopic pregnancy. LONG story short, then finally found my IUD stuck in my Fallopian Tube and had to remove it, which was beyond painful. Now I have to make sure I don't get pregnant for 6 weeks and have a HSG test done (I think that's the right name) to see how much damage is done to my fallopian tube, because any scarring there puts me at risk for an ectopic pregnancy. We only have one child, and want another fairly soon, but I may be looking at surgery to repair, or tie off that Fallopian Tube before we can get pregnant now.
