Hi,

I read in an herb book that the reason herbs are put into tinctures with alcolhol is that it ensures the mixture goes straight to the liver. The liver picks up the alcohol-based herbal tincture and breaks it down, so this is why they do it that way. Otherwise, if it was water-based, the kidneys would pick it up and it would not be as effective. That's my limited understanding.

Just thought you might want to know.
