Hi MH,

Sounds as though "sprint" might be right in the sense that if the other pc (HP) is still communicating it would point to a comms error from the dell.

The basics would be just to try swapping the cables around on the pcs first to check for a physical error.

If the same result stands then depending on what type of connection you have with the DSL box from the Dell, you might need to reinstall the driver.

I presume your using RJ45 which is standard network cable. A quickie on google would show ya what it looks like :)

You will get an idea of the "status" of a connection by going to the Start Menu
> Control Panel
> Network Connections

You will see you connection in there.. And it will be report the status of it. It may of been disabled by something, easy to jus re enable. Or there could be an IP conflict.

I left IT for these very reasons, but gets the cogs running :)
