hot shower / cold showers for prostate cancer ??

I have read a few statements that say it is very important to take hot showers
followed by cold showers with the focus on the prostate area, when trying to cure
prostate cancer, I have been doing so for the last few weeks,

My question is why, if anyone knows the answer I would love to hear it.
