Debbie, every affliction in the world is the result of things not being done God's way. What sins caused the Black Plague, Ebola, Malaria and Typhoid? Disease and epidemics have been wiping out parts of humanity all throughout history, but still have not caused as much damage to the world's population as ourselves (WAR). AIDS is a modern disease, but deviant behavior of all kinds has been part of HUMAN NATURE since the beginning of time. If God is going to penalize someone for their bad behavior, He doesn't need (or ask) for our help. "Vengeance is mine" saith the Lord. Penalizing someone for their bad deeds is HIS domain and WE HAVE NO BUSINESS doing the same. WE ARE NOT GOD'S HELPERS, we are His SERVANTS.
