Search: Hemochromatosis
High Iron

Most of what I found is that accumulation of iron is because the body isn't absorbing it. It was suggested in one site to drink orange juice for the Vit. C with each meal. Vit. C is what causes the absorption. Some remedy, but not cure is phelobotomy (withdrawing blood so many times a year for life). Some contributing foods to avoid meat, fish, any high iron meats. Spinach and other green foods, and more. What do you eat. I don't know yet. You can try to search: Hemochromatosis food to avoid; Hemochromatosis food to eat.

I too found out during a routine blood drive this year. Last year 2002 it happened but the lady wouldn't take my blood without a reason why the blood wouldn't drop. This year she did a blood count as well and it was accepted; Then, she explained that I have high iron.
