some foods would be better when cooked?
I'm kind of new to raw, but then again, it is kind of unknown and a conteversy in my country and most of europe anyway. It is a little known in some parts, but very little.
I am personally not raw, but interested in it, so I inform myself, cause I wouldn't know where to start if I was going to try it, I like warm food and hot tea (not 100°c cause I believe that it could destroy the things in the herbs that are healthy), just like many people, and I would be afraid not to get all the things my body needs... But I am a vegetarian for almost 8 years.
Lots of people react weirdly (like they react to vegetarians too anyway) when they hear about raw eating, and have a judgement ready before informing themselves properly.
I read the article here about assimilation of the body, wich would increase a lot when being 100% raw, on a dutch site there's an article that states that when you go raw, you need lots of food cause fruit and vegetables dont contain that much of calories.
That same article they states a few vegetables are healthier when cooked, like tomatoes, who would contain more lycopenes, wich are good against cancer, then raw tomatoes and that carots, broccoli and zuccini would also cotnain more carotenes, vitamins C and antioxidants.. also that some vegetables like eggplants, potatoes and beans would be toxic when raw, but healthy when cooked.
They also say one has to watch out because when things are not being cooked or only slightly warmed (for example for dehydratation) some bacterias and fungus etc have it easier to develop, wich is dangerous..
I'm also wondering if it's so that the
Sugar in fruits are not so healthy? how about teeth?
I also heared and read people who are vegan or raw are not healthy because they miss a lot of things their body needs. I have yet to find a source on the internet where it says what you shouldnt forget to eat while being raw or even vegan..
