I think that it's important to stress that even though odor can come from bacterial vaginosis, or hormonal changes, there may be other causes of vaginal odor as well.  I wrote a couple of posts in my blog that addresses infectious and non-infectious vaginal odor, http://mpdela.blogspot.com/search/label/vaginosis.
