Actinomyces israelii-mean elements!
Hello Everone,
You know when I first started getting anal itch about 2 1/2 years ago, I thought it must be pin worms, but I could never find any.
I kept asking my sister and new RN of about 1 1/2 years and she only works in the pediatrics unit, but I asked her what else could make the anal itch. She didnt know. I have now learned that one other reason would be protazoa, or other types of worms.
But in doing my research here over the last six months when I was deathly ill, I came across these, they were always in my stool, and on the TP, I could just barely see them, so I got out a magnifing glass and could almost clearly see them, mine were the ones on the left.
The thing about them is, they just look like the picture, no matter how close you get....well maybe an electron microscope would show something else, but no one has shipped me, one of those, for free, yet.....lol....so I really just ignored them, not much fun to look at. Squish them under a cover slip, they just look like a squashed wheat flour dumpling. But they really did cause anal itch.
I havent found any at all, at least not in that form (left pic) since the nitazoxanide and metranidazole, but I havent checked lung fluid either, I didn't realise they could get into your lungs, or that they were anything significant at all, for that matter.
Well these are really nasty little creatures.
They are gram posative, intertwining, branching filaments, diphtheroid-like elements. When stained some of the filaments appear to be acid fast. The acid fast varieties may be mistaken for tubercle bacilli and the pulminary form may clinically resemble tuberculosis.
So here is a great imitator, known to medical
Science since at least for sure since 1962. And is very widespread in the soils and dust every where.
I just found this, so very apropriate for all of us, in these past years. And here are the symptoms they can cause. And this is not one of those deals were you have to exhibit all of them to be gram positive for these. You could have only one of the symptoms and be infected with them.
* Lung inflammation
* Loss of appetite
* Cough
* Chest pain
* Coughing up blood
* Weight loss
* Weakness
* Headache
* Lethargy
* Confusion
* Organ abscesses
* Skin abscess
* Fever
* Night sweats
* Enlarged liver
* Enlarged spleen
Here is a link to read more on them, and they are not found in Wikapedia, I found that curious.
