you will find very divided opinions on enemas, on the water fast. Chrisb1, who often cites Shelton, believes strongly that it is not advised on a water fast. (which is the way Shelton sees it also.) Some do use them. I did not, on my 29 day fast.
(though I did start the fast with a salt water flush, the first day, and prior to it, had been only eating one small meal a day for about a week.

five days is not so long for some 'symptom' to present itself. During my last week, I was producing a constant amount of salty nauseating mucous. Nausea though, can be associated with dehydration. And chasing after a small child, as well as doing chores etc. is not exactly "resting". In the early days of my fast I probably drank 3 glasses of water a day (12 ounces each). By the third week, I barely felt like sipping an ounce or two a day.

Try to go by your instincts. And try to rest whenever your child rests!
