All I have seen is people trying to invent and manipulate facts to fit what they believe the Bible says is the age of the Earth and universe.

When people read the first two verses of Genesis and read that the Earth was void and formless, what images do people in this day and age typically form in their minds?  They form the images of what science taught us.  And that is the Earth was in pieces forming together by the force of gravity.  I think the ancient Hebrews had no concept of this.  When I read it I also have the impression that there was already water on the Earth.  It didn't say that God added water and said that it was good.  I think Moses had a different "formless and void" image in his mind.  Was the Earth void of fossils?  Did the Hebrews have a concept of the Earth as a whole?  I don't think so.  Also, the exact meanings of words do get lost through linguistical translation.
