Re: Hi & Question For Somer
Hello!
Good to hear from you; congratulations on your efforts. Sounds like you are ready for a good cleanse!
Of course you know that headache is typical of the first few days of fasting. The only way to avoid it is to do a serious pre-cleanse diet, eating only fruits and veggies for about a week before starting your fast to get your body in the cleansing mode. I did this for 30 days before my Big 60 Day extravaganza and was very glad I did. If you drink any caffeine, even one cup of coffee a day as I do, DO NOT STOP! Taper off over about three days before starting the fast, or you WILL suffer the dreaded caffeine headache! The Worst!!
If it were me, and the only thing I could access was a mixture of palm syrup and maple, I would do the cleanse anyway, following the standard procedure. Another option would be BLACKSTRAP molasses, recommended by the
Master-Cleanse for diabetics doing the cleanse, a very supportive option. Another option, of course, would be fresh fruit and veggie juices. A juicer is fairly inexpensive... buying, prepping and
juicing is a hassle but it is an excellent cleanse.
Enema... well, it's not SOP for MC, but has always been part of my protocol as I have been a long faster more often than not, and the
SWF (Salt-Water-Flush) can definitely be harsh over the long haul. I still love it for what it does, hate it for the fact of doing it (the worst)... but definitely find a plain
water enema an excellent option. Whatever you choose to do, be sure to keep your colon clean with a routine of your choice EVERY FASTING DAY, and don't hesitate to do an extra enema in case of detox crisis. More than once I have had a simple enema stop a bad day in its tracks.
Sounds like you are on the right trail; have a great cleanse and let me know if I can help you in any way. I will be joining you soon for a 10-15 day maintenance cleanse.
Best,
Somer
