the gulf stream sustains europe's temperate climate, unnaturally warm for its far north placement. if that shuts down or alters europe will be thrown into a massive and devestating ice age.

polar melting creates lots of cold fresh water that mixes into the ocean, this could disrupt or shut down the gulf stream and trigger an ice age. its not that complicated.

another mechanism is this - global warming creates more rainfall world wide, this leads to more snow fall this leads to longer winters and heavier ice packs.

btw al gore doesn't hold that an ice age is coming. but i do believe that is where we are headed. Tweet
