Actually , DQ, although it sounds surprising, still, it is somewhat warming to here tell that a person had enough confidence to do what you said this fellow did, AHEAD OF TIME, and rather than be kicked out of town, he found a Sheriff willing to entertain his conversation..... that's, like, a borderline reason for hope. This said, this does need to be tempered with some reality. Not every sheriff in every county in the Union is likely to be found welcoming this kind of conversation with open arms. Perhaps it is up to us to try them, and find out, one by one, county by county.
