Re: Fasting and fear associated with
You are more than welcome Will_I_Ever_Learn.
Your plan of action sounds very healthy to me, especially purchasing raw fresh vegetables from your local Farmers Market, as I do. Your proposed diet will be very alkaline-forming and less taxing on your powers of digestion leaving you more available energy for other bodily tasks. I bake my own 100% wholewheat bread, which is almost like a cake in texture but very delicious, unlike the mass-produced cardboard-like bread available in the local supermarkets. Glad to hear that you will cut down on your meat consumption, as this is the most concentrated protein and demands the most energy in digestion, which is very tiring and enervating for the body.
Fasting can be an all-year-round activity, but I find it much easier in the summer months, while it is warm and can sunbathe; fasting in the Winter can be a little more difficult because of the cold, and the feeling of chilliness that I experience as do many other fasters.
Protein diets such as that expounded by Dr Atkins, is now largely discredited as an excessively high protein consumption leads to leaching calcium from the bones along with other minerals; great for losing weight, but not very good for overall health.
Fasting one day a week is excellent for health: I remember a quote that I read that recommended trying it on your pet dog first to see the benefits. Not sure what the dog thought about it though!!!!
I wish you well and superb health.
