Re: Treating Blastocystis Hominis with Nitazoxanide/Furazolidone/Secnidazole cocktail therapy
Here is the treatment(recommended by Jackie on Badbugs.com) I took to treat Blastocystis Hominis 2 years ago:
Purging by taking a strong laxative the day before starting the therapy may help reduce the
parasite load and give the medicine a head start. I took a product call Golytely. Before I took the pills, I checked out the manufacturers websites for side effects. If you are taking other medication, make sure it is compatible with your treatment.
I made sure I took them every 12 and 8 hours around the clock to provide the best levels in the gut.
Nitazoxinidine 500mg twice a day

Secnidazole (Secnidal) 500mg (3X/day)

Furazolidone (Furoxone) 100mg (3X/day)

All for 8 days (recommended dose was 10 days but I was unable to finish the treatment due to the toxicity of the cocktail).
I also took a probiotic: Ultra Flora IB (Metagenics) one capsule a day.
To starve BH, I had a very strict diet; drank plenty of fluids and lived on fish, veggies and chicken for 10 days.
Very important: I avoided all types of sugars, fruits, cheeses, yogurt, grains and starchy food. No caffeine, alcohol and chocolate.
Warning: By the 7th day, I was really sick and could hardly eat anything. The ninth day, I had a rash all over my body. It seemed that the rash may have been an allergy or a manifestation of my body detoxifying itself.
Please wait 6 weeks to avoid false negative results before being retested for BH. I am totally cured and got rid of BH with the above treatment.
Good luck.
