CONCERNS RE: BENTONITE USE

Some questions were recently raised regarding the safety of Bentonite use...particularly as it relates to aluminum, parasites, increased acidity and bacteria. Bentonite has a pH of 8.5-10.5 (alkaline) so ingesting it would not result in increased acidity in the body. The issue of bacteria is addressed on the Eyton Earth website where they show test results demonstrating a reduction of bacteria such as e coli, etc. Probiotics should always be used following a Colon Cleanse to replace beneficial bacteria.

The following is an email which I received from the folks at Eyton's Earth (they don't sell bentonite...just research it and promote its use) and addresses the concerns of aluminum and parasites. And as they suggest, the article on mercury toxicity is very interesting. I hope this puts some of your fears to rest and perhaps increases the possibilities for your use of bentonite...I'll post some more info on 'clay' baths in the future.

Pamela:

Thank you for writing!

The aluminum scare is just that: A scare, unless the aluminum is an actual
contaminant in the clay source.

"Dr. Anderson" consumed "large" amounts of hydrated Bentonite and confirmed
through hair analysis that hydrated bentonite did not deposit aluminum in
the body. This is not conclusive, but I expect this would be the norm.

At one point, I hope to confirm his findings with tests of my own, using a
variety of heavy metal testing methods. I've probably personally ingested
more than 10 times the amount Dr. Anderson has!

As a practicing therapist, I recommend that you recommend a USP grade clay
for use. USP grade clay is recognized by all legal and scientific
authorities to be safe for internal ingestion.

As far as free from parasites? I can't confirm that from a scientific
viewpoint, but I'm aware of practitioners that use bentonite in conjuction
with Dr. Clark's methods for parasite removal, including The Biamonte Center
for Clinical Nutrition ( who can't spell very well sometimes!!! ):

As you are probably aware, the Clark type practitioners don't go near
substances that have even a remote chance of causing parasitic infection.
Biamontes dedication to truth in clinical applications (

I've known bentonite to help eliminate parasites.

If you haven't seen our new page:

I think you'll find it interesting.

Speaking from a chemistry viewpoint, the aluminum silicate bond would not be
easy to break in the body. To my knowledge, there is no case where it does
so. Aluminum, as it is bound with the silicon, does not share any of the
characterists of metallic aliminum, as for as health consequence is
concerned.

Since bentonite is on the GRAS list of the FDA, there hasn't much interest
in demonstrating, through strict science, the safety of use. Keep in mind
that bentonite is in products such as Pepto Bismol.

V.E. Irons Inc makes a good premade, USP certified bentonite for internal
cleansing, and a link to a supplier is on our page:

Warm Regards,

Jason
