Re: time limit for cleanse

The length of a Colon Cleanse depends on what type of cleanse you are doing, what results you are getting, how much you need to clear out and how your bowels are functioning. Any cleanse that uses laxative herbs (senna, cascara sagrada, cape aloes) should be avoided or used for a short period of time, at the most. There is no problem with using psyllium and Bentonite for several months...psyllium is simply fiber and can be used indefinitely and some people use Bentonite daily...although I wouldn't advise it since there have been questioned raised that prolonged use can leach minerals from the body.

My initial cleanse was done with Holistic Horizons products (no bentonite) which were developed by Robert Gray who also wrote The Colon Health Handbook. He advises that an initial cleanse can be done for several months (if needed) and then followed by shorter rounds of cleansing as necessary. Other programs are shorter, more intensive and suggest fasting (Jensen's, etc.), but cal also be performed for longer periods of time when fasting is not desired. These programs also suggest repeated cleanses until the colon is thoroughly cleansed.

While undergoing any type of cleanse it is most important to pay close attention to how your body responds and alternate periods of cleansing with rebuilding...regardless of the recommended duration of a cleanse.
