another bm question

I am asking this on behalf of my sister and husband as we have just worked out they have exactly the same kind of BMs.

They may go several times a day but only in small quantities. The faeces are small in diameter and not great quantity. They sink straight away and they smell. They both have quite bad gas and often feel constipated. They also have to spend a bit of time in the loo to get anything out.

Any feedback on what this means healthwise? I always thought my husband's bowels were better than mine as he goes more often but I have only just discovered through talking to him how small the quantity is and the small diameter. Plus, I have already mentioned the smell and gas which says something is not quite right.

Any feedback appreciated. My sister will be starting on the P&B shakes this week so it will be interesting if they have the same effect on her as they've had on my husband (making him constipated).
