Re: Rubbery eliminations - Theory?

Hi Tracey,

I've been trying to locate one of my previous posts that included links to pics, but can't find it...frustrating! (It wasn't on this forum.) Someone else had raised the question regarding "pristine" colons that had been prepped prior to colonoscopies. The links I posted showed anything but...including a cesspool of toxic material in the cecum and a bunch of parasites, and lots of slimey stuff along the walls! If I ever find the post I'll post it again for you here.

As for where the gunk comes from...both the small and large intestine. The small intestine is approximately 23 feet long and is lined with finger-like projections called villi. This gives it an extroardinary surface area...about the size of a double tennis court if stretched out! It also means there's lots of area to gunked up. The colon is an additional 5 feet.

What I can tell you is this...I've done Colon Cleanses without Bentonite and gotten ropes of mucoid plaque...so it's not the bentonite. I've done cleanses with Bentonite and gotten the ropes, too. I've also taken fiber by itself...up to three doses a day...and not gotten the ropes (multiple bulky bowel movements a day, but no mucoid plaque). I've also seen people pass pieces of this material while performing their colonics when they weren't doing any kind of fiber+ cleanse. I also know how much better I felt after completing the cleanse and how much flatter my stomach was, and I was eating during the cleanses so my waist reduction was not the result of reduced calories or fasting.

Rich Anderson (Cleanse and Purify Thyself) states that the shape and surface markings on the mucoid plaque indicate where in the GI tract the material is coming from. While some of it takes the knotty contours of the colon, other pieces will have grooves or swirls in them in different patterns...I've passed all sorts.

In addition to the different shapes and textures, there is usually an intermingling of colors...provided you are eating. A simple test is to consume a lot of carrot juice for a couple of days while doing the colon cleanse. The newer fecal material will be orangish, but if you are passing mucoid plaque it will be dark brown, black, gray or green. Yes, the psyllium gels up...but it doesn't change colors unless *something* is added to it.

Regarding your 'molding' theory, since the digestive system maintains such a dynamic function and the wave motion of peristalsis that moves waste through would disrupt the shape...not to mention additional fluids, acids, enzymes etc. I don't believe the psyllium/bentonite alone would be able to maintain a solid form.

I think the most important thing, though, is how you feel once you've done the cleanse.
