Re: articles on experiences and alternative cures

Thats interesting.
I've been looking at Chinese Medicine and have a good theory book
Foundations of Chinese Medicine by Marciocia
Interestingly a cause of colitis is said to be worry and stress which overtime weakens the digestive sytem and especially the spleen/pancreas which is said to regulate digestion and control the inestines thus resulting in chronic diarrhea
also a cause is a bad diet, too rich and greasy which futher weakens the digestion and causes a fermenting foul condition in the intestines generating heat and wind and feeding pathogens resulting in injury to the lining of the bowel if longstanding.
Also there can be a liver involvement ie stagnation which also impairs digestive function said to be caused by frustration and anger as well as bad diet
So the treatment would be to regulate the diet take herbs to resolve the heat and infection in the bowel ,stenghthen digestion, relieve liver stagnation and importantly practice relaxing method to calm the mind which could include meditation or qigong (therapeutic exercise). One exercise for colitis given in an old text involves sitting upright focusing the mind on the navel gently ,breathing abdominally without effort and relaxing like this for up to half an hour or so. This is said to strengthen digestion as the bodies energy is said to follow the mind and worrying scatters it
So I think this is worth looking into
