Re: Amino Acids

Dear Dr Hardy,

I recently had my plasma amino acid levels tested by my naturopath in response to my symptoms of low mood, anxiety, lethargy, etc. 11 of 20 essential and non-essential AA's are below reference range, the remainder right on the low end of the reference range. Also, an earlier urine indican test showed moderately high indican in the urine, which would seem related.

At this point, we are trying to determine what this means. What could cause the AA's to drift low, seeing that I consume enough dietary protein every day. I am getting a CDSA done, but I was wondering if you had any ideas of what to look for, or suggestions as to underlying conditions that can cause uniformly low plasma amino acid levels.

Thank you!
