I saw the news article a few months ago - "much maligned" the writer of the article made comments to the effect that Hugo Chavez was imposing fascism - I tend to read ceefax (bbc news pages) at night when insomnia strikes - they are items that the BBC tend to show only once and get a 10 second airing on radio 4 once only and not show again much like the article re: the recent german climate computer models shown only once at 06.30 am on breakfast news.
Just to correct myself - "getting rid" rather "ending the autonomy of Venezuela's central bank" I generalised.
Hugo Chavez is poorly regarded in the UK by the media which is why I found the documentary "the War on democracy" so interesting as it painted a totally different picture on what Chavez has been doing re: the oil situation in Venezuela.
