Personality/mental-emotional aspect
Good post Julie,
I was just going to post something and saw that you had posted this, and it fits right in with what you are saying. I heard it in the wee hours of the morning, and didn't write the name of the book down, but I'm going to find out.
A story I heard on the radio this morning made a big connection to this in the way of a person's mental/emotional outlook on things- and I'm sure a person's personality...
A study was done on children, four years of age, in regards to having to "be patient and wait" for something. Two marmallows were placed in the room, and the child was told that if they waited until the person got back, and didn't eat the two marmallows, that they could then have four marshmallows. They watched how the child responded to having to be patient and wait. Some of them started singing, some of them started exercising, some of them just couldn't handle it and ate the marshmallows anyhow.
They continued to observe these same children for some time through the years. What they found was that the children that just didn't have the self-discipline and the patience to wait in that one small test- carried on the same traits in other aspects of their lives in other situations. I'm sure it's got to do with personality traits, but it also had to do with some levels of maturity. Many of the ones that just didn't have the patience, and self-control and had to have the marshmallows now, even knowing there would be a bigger reward if they could just be patient and wait- also were people later on in their studies that showed more anger, resentment, bitterness, & blamed others when they didn't get what wanted right away, and generally showed less levels of maturity in all aspects of their lives, (relationships, finances, careers etc)
So what does this have to do with
parasite cleansing/liver flushing/bowel cleansing etc?
parasite cleansing is just ONE aspect of all of this. If the focus is on "Oh my gosh, I have parasites, I have to kill them NOW", it's not focusing on the whole big picture of over-all health issues. There's an endless amount of learning that a person can gain through the processes of trying to reach a "wholistic" wellness...if there is an openness to learning, listening to what others have gone through, having some patience and self-discipline when it's really not much fun at the moment. Looking ahead to what the rewards are in the future, by getting through the tough spots that you'd rather not have to-- "die-off symptoms", liver flushes, having bowel movements several times a day- taking time out of the day to zap, making changes in diet, etc, etc. But how much more awareness do we have of what is going on in our own bodies because of going through the cleansing processes?
When you realize that we live in a
parasite world, without letting it freak you out- and that being exposed to
parasites is just a fact of life and always will be- it gives you a bigger picture of how going through a 2 week round of pharmaceuticals, or taking large doses of horse wormer isn't going to "cure" a parasite infection. Is there such a thing as being 100% cleaned up of parasites? How could a person be when there are so many ways of being reinfected, and so many toxins/chemicals we are exposed to in our modern-day, daily lives- that we aren't even aware of that the
parasites thrive on?
But, then again, that alone could affect a person's emotional/mental state- not just seeing the actual worms that you've eliminated, feeling them inside of you... but then becoming aware of how we are exposed to them--that in itself could become an obsession if you let it.
I've learned alot, but I've got a lot to learn in the whole big picture of it all- I've got a lifetime ahead of me, with a whole different view of what "wellness" is, not from a "traditional" viewpoint anymore.
