KC123:
I am sorry to hear that you are not getting any help. I do call it hypoglycemia with other abnormality. Here is a definition of Ketones.
Ketones
A ketone test checks for ketones in your blood or urine. Ketones are substances that are made when the body breaks down fat for energy. Normally, your body gets the energy it needs from carbohydrate in your diet. However, stored fat is broken down and ketones are made if your diet does not contain enough carbohydrate to supply the body with sugar (glucose) for energy or if your body cannot use blood sugar (glucose) properly.
Newer home blood sugar meters can also measure ketones. Home urine tests to measure ketones are available.
I think you must email to Professor Joel H. Levit in New York and to Mr. Jurian Plesman. They both will help you with information without charging you. I sent you their webpage links in my last post. Knowledge is power, especially when you are dealing with your child and doctors who do not know this condition. I am sure that you will find that your child needs complex carbohydrates and no direct sugar, white flour and things made with corn starch. Do not forget this is very dangerous condition for a child. Brain needs glucose from the blood 24 hours a day.
Could you please describe his diet that way I can be more helpful.
My prayers. Lets hope that the doctor finds out what the best treatment is for your son.
Take care.
