Re: EDIT - Lead...
grz - In the context of being bad or good... I do not think anything is... however if one keeps shoveling calcium while ignoring "known" co-factors, troubles are bound to follow.
As far as alkaline acid balance is concerned, acid is not bad either, it must be a part of the whole, if not, then we die as well.
PB - "You seem to have the pov (in context of this discussion) that acidic condition and/or possibly glandular malfunction could be the cause of disease."
grz - I believe that disease can be caused by an imbalance of acid/alkaline, not necessarily an "acidic condition" but defined as, a deficiency in a required nutritional factor, in the correct amount. Of course "disease" would not manifest itself unless this deficiency was experienced over a period of time AND the body did not have an adequate/reasonable substitute for said deficiency. I do not believe that disease would normally occur in a body if nutritional deficiencies were only temporary.
I think the glandular issue could most likely be a result of the above.
PB - "I believe the body can turn the accumulation of an alkaline mineral (ironic as that may sound) into an acidic state if deemed excess or unwanted by the body. Couple that with elimination pathways at sub par and you have things like arterial plaque, arthritis, cancer (both of which there's an abnormal amount of calcium present)."
grz - I do not think that the body can "accumulate" alkaline minerals/elements without the acids to react against them. Since the body is acid forming, perhaps that is not the issue...
I absolutely agree that if the elimination pathways being sub par, illness will follow... but I disagree with your assessment of why the calcium is present. With no other recourse, and unable to eliminate waste effectively the body MUST neutralize the waste in some way. Calcium is the best available tool for the job. You can read all about it in water treatment methods, chemical spill and waste clean up etc. The presence of calcium in these cases is not because there is an excess...
I have a question for you that may get your mind thinking a bit about this...
Why, when people get a tissue cancer, why does the secondary phase (even with successful treatment) almost always end up with cancer in the bone?
Unfortunately, with the exposure to the toxins in our environment, most everyone's mineral metabolism is whacked out in some way, most likely, and most often, calcium metabolism. I think that this, is one reason most are confused about minerals in general and calcium in particular. All one needs to do is study plant calcium metabolism disruption and what causes it... and then we eat these same plants... what do you suppose will happen to us?
PB - "I believe you are correct in that there are imbalances at play; acidity from wrong diet, inadequate flora, glandular malfunction, but I tend to believe these are most likely contributing factors masking a fundamental cause (that being incorrect form and poor drainage)."
grz - We form acids by merely living... we do not have to add an acidic diet to the mix to make it happen, the acidic diet exacerbates it. That said, if one is eating an alkaline diet, one must also have adequate intestinal flora (acidic waste forming, improving assimilation of ingested alkaline foods), and eat enough additional acids to maintain proper digestion. It is difficult, but not impossible, to become too alkaline. As one reaches a greater acid/alkaline balance, physical activity level and metabolic rate increases, increasing the formation of acids in the body through the physical and metabolic activity.
Any form of a mineral can be the incorrect form if it is not needed or cannot be used for whatever reason, including the lack of necessary acids to react against it... This is why it is so important to listen to our body's cues. May people these days cover these "cues" up with polish, dies, and cosmetics, and have long since forgotten what the cues mean... they instead see the "cues" and warning messages from the body as unsightly, unwanted annoyances that can be managed with paint and pill.
... and poor drainage, well, isn't that a primary cause for all of our woes?
Bottom line is that we must do what feels and seems right for us, listening to our body. Not what some salesman, doctor, or forum participant says is "good for you". No matter what we choose to discuss or talk about, we will most likely end up appearing as if we are talking in circles because it is all connected :-)
Be well,
grz-
