contaminants and breast milk

I have just read these 2 articles about PCBs, dioxins and other dangerous contaminants in breast milk.

Apparently we humans being high on the food chain store the highest levels of these contaminants in our fat tissues. Sadly, these contaminants cannot be excreted but in one way: via our breast milk.

This means that as we provide nourishment and love to our babies, we overburden them with pollutant exposure which can be 10 to 100 times higher compared to formula-fed babies.

Being a mother of a 3 y old whom I lovingly and faithfully breastfed for 26 months, I feel this matter as actually overwhelming.

the first article is an interview to a scientist about a study published in 2007. The 2nd is a touching reflection by another scientist who is also a mother.

I would like the readers to post any thought.
