Re: DON'T take VIT B50 and ACIDOPHILUS (probiotics) and GET TESTED FOR TMAU

I would like to clarify what I wrote about Vitamin B50 and acidophilus.

Vitamin B50 is a complete formula that CONTAINS Choline Bitartrate along with other Vitamin Bs. Sorry I wasn't too clear about it. If you DON'T have TMAU, it would actually be good for you. But people diagnosed with TMAU need to stay away from choline, and begin a very low-choline diet.

This is why it's so important to be tested for TMAU before you take up a TMAU treatment plan for an extended period of time. It is definitely not a treatment plan for someone who DOESN'T HAVE TMAU. If you begin the TMAU treatment plan recommended by the nih.gov and genetest.org websites, you should do it only to see if indeed your symptoms improve in a few weeks. If they do, then you most certainly need to be tested for TMAU. If it doesn't, then you should still be tested, but there's a chance that it may also be something else.

Acidophilus is only one of the gut bacteria, considered to be a "friendly" bacteria. However, I would double check with a scientist who specializes in Trimethylaminuria research whether it is good to take probiotics with TMAU, being that they recommend taking Antibiotics to reduce the flora bacteria in the intestines, which would advertently or inadvertently include acidophilus. In other words, acidophilus is a "friendly" bacteria if you don't have TMAU, but may be a producer of pungent Body Odor if you do have TMAU.

So...to be safe, I would stay away from both of them until an expert tells me otherwise.
