I have a 6-year-old son who had to come home early from school because of a 100.3 degree fever. Keep in mind that he has a speech delay and a bit of a developmental delay. So I don't know if he has a sore throat or anything, but I heard strep's been going around. The teacher said he was acting lethargic, which was not normal for him. (Yet when I brought him home first thing he did was pop Bob the Builder into the DVD player and play with his toys.)
Just wanting some suggestions. I can't get him to gargle anything, just so you know. I generally don't give him Tylenol for a fever, especially not when it's that low, because a fever can be beneficial. I was just reading that Antibiotics do no good when it comes to strep (let's assume it is) and that strep seldom leads to rheumatic fever anymore.
Though I am a bit concerned because I had an aunt who died 55 years ago of rheumatic heart disease--at the age of 10.
