The psyllium might be adding to your constipation problems. Psyllium swells to 50 times its size when wet. This equates to 1 teaspoon of psyllium creating over 1 CUP of stool. Every teaspoon of psyllium needs 1 cup of water to become hydrated - if you don't drink enough water - the psyllium will take it from your body - when the body becomes dehydrated - severe constipation follws.
For example - if you are taking 3 tablespoons of psyllium per day - it would need 9 cups of water to become hydrated - on top of that - your body needs 2 quarts of water per day to function porperly. This amount of psyllium would require that you drink over 1 GALLON of water per day for proper body function.
This is why psyllium could be adding to your problems.
