Re: deviations from the MC
I think it's important to remember that the
Master-Cleanse is not the only cleanse out there that people have gained great benefits from. Some people do juice fasts, and they feel it really helps them, while maintaining strength. Some people can do
Water Fasts and it works well for them. I think the important thing is giving attention to your bodys needs while aknowledging the benefits from cleansing. The concept behind a cleanse or fast is a great deal to clean out the toxins, especially in the intestines, and give them a rest. It is also important to do a cleanse that you will be able to maintain.
For me, that is adding other herbal teas into the MC, for variation, otherwise I would not be able to stick with it. My mother has felt the need to add an occasional shot of wheatgrass juice, and last time we did it, her electrolytes got so messed up that she needed to boil some vegetables and drink the broth. None of these things needed to be digested, they absorb into your body with minimal effort, and they will not at all harm you or the cleansing process.
So maybe many people are able to go the long haul on lemons and maple syrup, but everybody's body is very different, and we all have different imbalances that we need to address. Do what your body needs. You are cleansing YOUR body, not Stanley Bourroughs. If you ignore your own needs, you may even cause yourself damage. Good luck.
