Re: Copyright God
DQ - I like the way you think (it's much easier on the mental health). Unfortunately, seeing Ron Paul as having any hope of being president assumes that America still has some form of functioning Democracy at the national level. It doesn't. There's absolutely zero chance that RP would win the election even if 90% of the voters actually and anonymously happened to cast a vote for him.
Do you think our cowardly politicians would consistantly spurn the overwhelming will of the people if they thought the voters in any way figured into their re-election prospects? They LIVE for power, money and above all re-election. If they thought there was even the smallest sliver of democracy to be concerned about they'd at least go to the trouble of disguising their votes and positions as they have in the past. That's for starters.
But even in the 100% impossible scenario that Ron Paul was officially elected president, he would have zero support from the rest of the government and thus zero power anyway. Remember Jimmy Carter? Though widely derided and defiled in the mainstream media, he was a genuine idealist, altruist, and America first president. And the powers that be had nothing at all to do with him - including his fellow Democrats.
And if the Democrats in power wouldn't support him, imagine how much support he got from the rest of the military industrial corporatocracy that runs the country (and most of the world). He was an ineffective president precisely because he was a populist, altruist and nationalist - and so is Ron Paul.
However given the way our politicians have turned even several orders of magnitude more traitorous and less responsive to the people since the 70's, Jimmy Carter's presidency would be the pinnacle of empowerment compared to anything Ron Paul could muster in office today.
The real people running our country now are internationalists for whom the destruction of our country, currency, etc is just one of many inevitable and unlamentable steps towards a new world order (one world government).
Sorry for the lack of optimism on Thanksgiving day, but them's just the facts, as tragic as they may be.
