There are literally thousands of people who have followed this regimen, using sodium chlorite in their green drinks, many for as long as 10 years with no ill effects. It can be done on a long term basis with only the best results.

I think that Humble is probably quite correct when he says that it breaks down into sodium, and the chlorine dioxide breaks down into precursors which the body naturally uses and makes.
