Re: Symptoms flared up after amalgam removal.
Hi six fillings is a lot to do in one session....are you having this done by a biologic dentist or a general dentist? What protection during this removal will you be receiving? Too much, too soon without enough protection can make matters worse and has done for a number of people who regret it bitterly.
Also, you may find taking charcoal aids you before the appointment, might help absorb some mercury and taking it after the appointment as well. Do not take vitamin C 24 - 48 before a dental appointment, it can erase the effects of the anaesthetic and increase pain. Take the vitamin C again after the appointment.
When you get home from the appointment, I would remove the clothes you're in, throw them in the wash, and shower. Because during the appointment you will be exposed to mercury vapor, which will also possibly be in your hair, skin, clothes. Sounds kind of extreme, but better err on the side of caution and do as much as you can to limit the impact.
Diet is really good and you should not have any sugar.
Sugar is one of the worst things anybody can have and also feeds candida and can make things much worse. Candida can in itself cause similar symptoms of mercury and can increase the toxicity of mercury, plus interfere with detox by messing up and overloading the gut and liver. Hal Huggins recommends a mercury toxic person to have plenty of protein from meat (chicken, beef, turkey etc), and butter. For reasons he has not been able to understand, in all his years he has yet to be able to cure a vegetarian. I've read a few articles now that indicate proteins and fats are an aid to a mercury toxic person (proper fats, not bad fats). They aid detox, increase bile flow, help heal, good for hormones/brain, skin, etc. The good fats are butter, lard, extra virgin olive oil, mercury free fish oil/cod liver oil etc. The bad fats are trans fats, hardened vegetable oils which are not of use to the human body. Animals fats are fine. Look up Dr WEston Price's studies!
After you have had all the
Amalgams removed, you will be able to undergo chelation to start removing the stored mercury inside your tissues and organs. Chelation means to "claw" grab. Basically a chelating agent is something that has two thiols and has a tight grip on mercury or other heavy metals and can help escort them through and out of your system.
However, the safest chelation protocol I have used and seen work on many people is one by Andrew Hall Cutler. It serves to lessen the wild mobilisation of mercury during many typical detoxes, and increase the safety and efficiency of the chelation. Stirring up mercury wildly by using anything and everything, whenever, can make symptoms MUCH worse because mercury can go all over the place and enter more sensitive tissue in the process, even the brain. Though some of it may come out during this, it is not worth the agony.
But everybody is different and some can handle almost anything, others cannot. Some do really well on chlorella, some do horribly. So I would personally recommend the andrew hall cutler protocol. This is basically - DMSA (chelating agent, available online). You can start with a lower dose than he recommends, because many cannot handle the 50 mg dose to start. So I would recommend 25 mg or less. He advises taking a capsule every 4 hours around the clock. (So you need to set an alarm, plus wake up at night to take doses).
This can be done for 3 days or longer, up to a week if one wishes. And then taking a break for the same amount of time. E.g. 3 days on, 3 days off. Or one week on, one week off. Or variations of it. So long as you do it more than 2 days and take a break of the same amount of time or longer if you need to. E.g. 3 days on, 7 days off etc.
This is repeated for approximately 3 months, until tissue/blood levels of mercury are reduced. Basically it clears the body areas, the more surface areas. Then when you feel ready? You can add alpha lipoic acid to the regime (ALA). ALA is just an antioxidant and is available in healthfood shops, chemists. You can use the same dose if you want, or whatever suits. But it usually needs to be used a little more often. Every 3 hours around the clock, rather than 4. It can be used with DMSA, or you can drop the DMSA and use the ALA alone.
DMSA can help with side effects and increase chelation and keep things more stable and effective for many. if you want to use both? You simply take both together every 3 hours. You can do this 3 days every week or so.
This is pretty much Andrew's protocol in a nutshell. The reason for the frequent dosing is to keep blood levels even and consistant with the chelating agent, so that the movement of mercury will be kept even and consistant, without the wild fluctuation of infrequent, sporadic dosing. If you take the chelating agents less often, the levels will drop in the blood and the mercury maybe redistrubted.
Though one cannot avoid redistribution completley, particularly when stopping a round, it is not worth adjusting or messing arund with the protocol if you are serious about doing it.
Supplements that might helps are vitamin C, vitamin E, B complex, zinc, magnesium, flaxseed oil, etc.
What you can expect after the
Amalgam removal? Hard to say, it depends on how protected you are and how much stored mercury is in you, plus how your body responds to having no more amalgam. Some do feel worse after it due to exposure and withdrawal from having suddenly no amalgam. The body can also start to try and dump the storage of mercury which can feel like "repoisoning". This may not happen though until months later. Different for each person.
I hope this helps a little. You may wish to take another route in chelation, there are plenty out there, but the one I mentioned seems to be the one many trust and end up using. Becoming increasingly popular. Two forums are devoted to this protocol alone due to it's safety and effectiveness.
