I obtained this never before seen exclusive video from a co-worker. It is footage shot during the storm by his neighbors. What many people don't seem to comprehend about Hurricane Katrina is that the NORTHEAST QUADRANT (the strongest part of any hurricane) hit the MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST and not New Orleans. The 35-40 foot Cat. 5 TIDAL SURGE destroyed roughly 90 miles of the Mississippi Gulf Coast line extending a mile or so inland along that 90 miles and even as far as 10 miles inland in Hancock County. It wasn't so much the wind damage as it was that basically a giant Cat. 5 TSUNAMI destroyed the Ms. Gulf Coast..... (less)
