My update on Baka, is that he is doing very well. He still enlongates his left leg and holds both of his hind legs a bit out to the side when standing (sort of tripoding), but he moves without any trace of a problem, his eyes are bright, and his spirits and energy are really good. He did have a minor relapse on Saturday, after being groomed,(his left hind leg seriously gave out on him, probably from being manipuled in strange ways when his hair was cut). It scared us both half to death, but it passed in a few minutes.

I too, took him off the prednisone after 3 weeks.

I have also taken him off the Chinese herbs and Transfer Factor Plus (another source told me the Plus formula DID boost the immune system, although the regular Transfer Factor balances it)and am now just using homeopathy (Rhus Tox, 30C), Aurvedic herbs (3 formulas perscribed by an herbalist), antioxidents, and chiropractic...although I may stop the chiro as it causes him to become more symptomatic for a few days afterwards. I have also done massage on him, but no acupuncture as he wouldn't tolerate it.

The up side is his appetite is back to normal(it had been touchy for at least six months prior to this), and his life long constitpation/elimination problems have improved.

My vet said it could take six months to totally recover from this, and since it happened on the last day of August, it has only been a tad over two months for us. It seems much longer tho. Tweet
