You are sooo right Leslie~~when my daughter was little,
we would plant gardens together just like I was taught
to do. My mother grew up on a farm, the oldest of six
kids, and they had a fruit and veggie stand out in front
of the farm at the highway. It really warmed my heart
to go visit my kid and see she had a garden which she made
all on her own. Ha~! her fiance's family also owns
greenhouses so perhaps her love for gardening also
helped her find love too...ggg.

I have been checking in on your blog. Prayed for you
the day you were stressing the most it seemed about
catching up on your finances.

I think about these times when people in the south
are on a water ban and are unable to water their lawns
and gardens because of the drought and so I would also
emphasize the importance of growing and using sprouts.
Heck, you can grow sprouts in a jar inside of your car
on the road if need be.

Here we had so much rain in the beginning of the summer
it swamped the gardens. Still, the neighbors and I share.
Absolutely community is also important to grow so you
have a sort of *tribe* or people you can depend on to
come together when times get rough. My neighbors and I
share a lot. They had lots of extra pears this year, I
had grapes. We trade and give away what we cannot use.

Also, I find growing and harvesting and then cooking
with intention makes my food feel nourishing and
healthy for me. This morning I just bagged up 11 quarts
of the finest homemade soup, to freeze, that I've made
in a while. That everything is going up in price really
makes me pay more attention to avoid waste and to make
the best of what I am able to grow and find.

I wish you the best with your projects and in holding
the loving space out there in the west. You are an
inspiration~~!
