do you normally pack extra powder in the dog's worming powder?

I'm asking for two reasons:
1. my dog has stopped eating with gusto the wormer with egg or wormer with pumpkin so it's gotten to the point that I have to take coconut oil, mix the powder in, and then jam my hand in his mouth to vigorously rub it on the roof of his mouth and his tongue. There's a little bit of waste this way, so I just wanted to make sure that was accounted for.
2. also, he's probably three pinches behind (daycare didn't administer it like I told them too, grr!) will that keep it from being effective? Anyways, it looks like we got an extra day and a half supply and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't way off (I've been giving him big pinches of this stuff too) and screwing with his cleanse.

Thanks!
